Renaissance Woman : A brief review

ImageOn 10th May 2009, Gillian and David joined musical forces once again to give a performance  intended to celebrate the Little Soprano's being 'nifty-post-fifty'!

ImageGillian and David were joined on the concert platform on this occasion by guest soprano Kate Macoboy, and jointly gave a varied programme of songs and duets to while away a beautiful sunny afternoon in the tranquil setting of The Milner Hall, St Peter's Church, in Winchester.

Reflections of the performance:

"Both Keith and myself really enjoyed the concert. It was so lovely to hear you again, I had never heard before "Si mes vers avaient des ailes" and really enjoyed how you sang it. Keith was moved to tears by "Sound of the Trumpet" and me by "Music for a while". The whole programme was so moving and entertaining and the singing so lovely. You and Kate make a great team, and David Harpers' playing is so wonderful, just amazing, I'll hope you'll do more recitals like these." Sophie Bierens de Haan

"Thank you Gillian for an afternoon of great music yesterday. I thought your voices, although different, blended superbly. It was great to hear some of the old favourites, particularly Silent Noon. Hearing it sung so flawlessly made me wonder how I ever had the nerve to tackle it! A highly enjoyable few hours. Thanks again!" Mike Carter

"Congratulations to you, and to Kate. The recital was lovely." Alison Ogden

"Gillian - Thank you for a great musical afternoon! Please also pass on my thanks to Kate and David."  Sue Lewey

"Just a note to say that I really enjoyed your recital last weekend. I think it went very well .... I particularly liked the french song in the first half. Lovely venue too." Lynn Ludford

" .... enjoyed Gillian's recital this afternoon. It was good to listen to the soprano voice and then be transported along a magical journey. Beautiful." Mary Murphy
