| Recital 1996 |
|
Gillian Wormley & David Harper gave their first recital performance together on the evening of June 8th 1996, in the atmospheric Tudor Merchant's Hall, Westgate Street, Southampton. The programme consisted of Italian, French, German & English repertoire. The recital was recorded live and has to thank a family of local sparrows, who made their presence heard during the first half of the programme, for a good deal of atmosphere that their chirping provided! The proceeds from the concert were in aid of The Alice Elizabeth The Tudor Merchants Hall was originally erected in Southampton's St. Michaels Square around 1428, where it housed the Woolen Cloth Hall and Fish Market. Gradually it fell into disrepair and was eventually sold as a derelict structure in 1634 and moved to its current site within the city wall at Westgate Street.
